Acne is not only mentally scarring, but unfortunately, if left untouched could leave scars on your face and body. Scarring occurs because the tissues have been damaged and your body can’t work fast enough to repair it.

Those most likely to have scarring varies based on genetics and the seriousness of your acne. Some people have scars that never heal while others have them for a small period of time and resolve themselves. The real cause for scarring is relatively unknown and there is no cure for it, it can only be prevented and treated.

If possible, avoid popping or picking at your zits. Although it is extremely tempting, especially when you have a big white head that is obvious to others, if you leave them alone and let them take their natural course, you could avoid scarring. If you have a persistent issue, visit with your doctor as he she may be able to extract it for you safely and with less scarring.

Drink lots of water and eat a healthy and balanced diet. It is likely, if you have a healthy lifestyle that you’re skin will benefit from it. Avoid the sun, and if you do need to be outside, use sunblock!

Avoid being around smoke or quit smoking altogether. Smoking will prevent you from having a healthy blood flow, and in turn, will not allow your skin to get the nutrients it needs.

Having acne scars on your skin and face is devastating, but if acne is treated, you can avoid having them altogether. Speak with your doctor about the best treatment for you.
