Look & Feel Better By Reducing Dark Circles Under The Eyes

Why is it that lately when you look in the mirror staring back at you are those bags under your eyes and or those dark circles under your eyes?

Is it that suddenly we notice that the passing years could be starting to show or is it really all because you’re living the high life getting late to bed and drinking and smoking too much?

So far todate we can’t buy a pill to slow down the ageing process but add in the fact that you could be self inflicting additional damage to your skin then yes those could all be just the reason for it. So if you don’t like what you see in the mirror each morning and you know you are guilty of those excesses then you have the answer to the problem!

However, there are other causes and some you can deal with yourself but others you can’t.
Inherited, genetic traits can sometimes be the reason.
If you have family members who also suffer from the problem then it may well be likely that it is in your genes and there will be little that you can do except to consider using a lightening cream or concealer that will blend with your skin colour. You may however, choose to consult a Dermatologist for help.

Improve your diet by eating lots of fresh fruit, green vegetables and oily fish, herrings mackerel and sardines and if necessary try taking vitamin supplements.

Cut down on salt and sugar and the preservatives that are found in many ready made meals, these can be harmful to your skin too.

An iron deficiency can be the cause of dark eye circles; it can result in a dark bluish colouring in the skin under the eye area.

Some Medical conditions can cause fluid retention resulting in puffiness around the eyes (e.g. heart, thyroid, kidney, liver diseases) in severe cases you should make your doctor aware of any symptoms you are experiencing.

Being dehydrated can cause a certain amount of discolouration around the under eye areas and so as we are often advised in so many skin care regimes drink plenty of water, it’s that easy. Your skin can get dehydrated quite easily especially if you work all day in centrally heated environments!

Tiredness too can also be a cause but although this is often said,it is difficult to substantiate. Try to get as much sleep as possible but also to ensure you get quality sleep too. Don’t take your worries and troubles to bed, if a problem is bothering you try writing it down on paper before you go to bed it might help.

Treatments aimed to slow down the degradation of the blood vessels under the eyes and thereby helping to prevent small leakages of blood that form the purple bags can be of some help.

Try applying an eye cream containing Vitamin K, recent research has shown that skin creams containing this ingredient can reduce puffiness and discoloration significantly in many patients. Long-term daily use seems to have the greatest effect. One such product Eyederma is fast becoming more and more popular in both the US and in the UK.

Not following a skin care regime? Then start now for no matter what your age today tomorrow you may well be glad that you did!
