If we want young, healthy looking skin and to hold on to it for as long as we can , if we want to remove lines, blemishes and Dark Circles then we need to take action as quickly as possible no matter what our age.

There are ways in which you can tip the balance in your favour, there are many forms of self-help and likewise there are many ways that you can cause premature skin aging.

Today is the best time to start Improving Your Skin, tomorrow you may well be glad that you did.

It is a fact that over 60% of the human body is made up of water, did you know that?

Well we can lose at least 2.5 pints of water each day, around 1.5 litres and so to maintain a healthy body and a more radiant skin we need to drink around 2 litres or 3.5 pints a day, surprising isn’t it?

Drinking water will keep you hydrated and improve the appearance of your skin, drinking plenty of water can also flush out toxins in your system and therefore assist in your overall well being.

So how does drinking water help keep your skin radiant?
Well it’s deep down in the dermis among the skin’s cell structure where the liquid is required to plump up the cells and prepare them for their upward journey to the surface of the skin as replacements to the dead skin cells that we shred during the normal processes of cell replacement.

The lines, wrinkles and blemishes we see are because the natural cell structure and replacement cycle is being disrupted by chemical reactions due to free radicals all working against the natural processes. By assisting the cells to maintain their normal liquid levels we are going some way towards correcting some of the self inflicted damage caused by our modern busy and hectic lifestyles.

Target yourself to drink six to eight glasses each day and there is no need to gulp them down quickly, sipping the water will be just as beneficial as long as the overall quantity is achieved each day.

So what if you can’t face the thought of drinking so much water each and everyday, well there are other drinks then that will help you achieve your goal. Milk for instance contains a very high percentage of water and green tea, rich in antioxidants, makes an ideal drink too. How about drinking freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices that contain high amounts of water and of course they contain health giving vitamins too. Eating foods such as water melon, grapes, cucumber and celery they can help increase your water consumption too.

To keep your skin from drying out when you are working in centrally heated offices or taking long flights carry a small aerosol spray filled with distilled or spring water. Spray on to refresh your skin then pat dry and apply your moisturiser immediately so as to prevent evaporation.

I hope that you have found this article both interesting and of some use in your Skin care regime.
