The Truth About Natural Menopause

The term natural menopause simply implies a woman is going through the normal course of change in her body where as induced menopause occurs when those changes are force through some form of surgery.

Menopause in the natural way usually occurs when a woman is in her forties to fifties. Predicting when natural menopause will occur is not really possible other than to use age as a guideline.

Can a woman go through natural menopause before she reaches the age of 40? Yes, but this is in the minority.

The Natural Process

Natural menopause by definition would be the menopause that comes to the body of a woman naturally, without any outside interference. This would normally take place around her 40s and can carry on until the woman reaches her 50th birthday. It is a slow and can sometimes be a painful process in the sense the symptoms associated with it can cause major upheaval in a woman’s life.

The onset of the natural menopause will totally depend upon the inner clock of a woman in whose body it strikes, very similar to the clock that brings on the onset of puberty in girls.

The Unnatural Process

Induced menopause can be deemed as being unnatural. In other words, it is virtually forced onto a woman. Induced menopause can occur through surgery such as the removal of the uterus and ovaries.

Medical conditions can result in this type of surgery such as cancer. Treatment for cancer such as radiation and chemotherapy treatment which affects the ovaries can also lead to their removal thus bringing on menopause.

While inducement is a concern, in many ways it’s easier to handle than natural menopause. Women who undergo surgery for removal of the uterus and ovaries at least have the knowledge that they can become menopausal which means they are well prepared for it.

On the other hand, natural menopause is virtually unpredictable and will strike when a woman is usually unprepared. To combat the latter, it’s good sense to prepare for it. Understanding what it is and the treatment options available will go a long way to being able to better deal with it.
