Natural Cures For Heartburn - Improve Your Quality Of Life

Many people are now turning to a natural cure for heartburn. Chronic sufferers who have exhausted all traditional remedies and becoming concerned with the side effects which come with some of these cures, are looking at more natural methods to get relief.

Some of the more traditional methods for treating heartburn include over the counter antacids but these are aimed more at people who suffer occasional bouts. They come in liquid and tablet form and work by neutralizing the stomach acid in turn, creating a layer which keeps the acid from rising into the esophagus.

These are considered band aid methods and provide temporary relief only. Chronic heartburn sufferers won’t usually gain any benefit from taking these relief options. Instead, they are more inclined to be put on prescription drugs prescribed by their doctors and while effective, can lead to side effects including constipation and tiredness.

In effect, it’s almost like “robbing Peter to pay Paul. By working to provide relief against their symptoms, these drugs can also have the effect of depleting essential nutrients in the body including potassium.

Peppermint has been used as a long time remedy for heartburn. Peppermint tea for example is suggested as a soothing remedy for the stomach. Ginger is another natural cure for heartburn which has been used effectively, particularly in Asian countries. It seems to have a soothing effect on nausea and also seems to have the ability to soothe stomach issues.

Chamomile has a relaxing effect and it’s benefits as a natural cure for heartburn have long been regarded as very good. Baking soda for heartburn is another alternative and reported to be very effective. Used in very moderate amounts it has the ability to neutralize acid in the stomach. While it may not be considered a natural cure, as a relief option it can be effective.

One of the points to remember about using natural as opposed to prescription-based medicines is it’s going to take longer for natural solutions to take effect. Bear this in mind before making any drastic decisions and tossing away your medicine.
