Cosmetic Implant Dentistry Research

Are Implant Dentistry for you? If you have problematic teeth or serious dental work that needs to be done, you most probably are in need of dental work. Dental implants provide a permanent fixture in your mouth that can be used to replace natural teeth, failing bridgework or crowns and other dental fixtures that you had placed several years earlier.

Having your dental specialist place dental implants in your mouth is not an immediate fix either and you should discuss this with your cosmetic dentist beforehand to find out if dental implants are for you.

Dental implants require anyone that receives them to be in excellent health. It takes a long time for the gums and the bone to fully recuperate and often times this can take months. Your gums and jaw bone also needs to be in good shape. Placing dental implants mean that your dental specialist is going to be performing surgery on your gums and the bone that lies beneath.

You need to quit smoking if you are a smoker to get dental implants! Smoking puts anyone at greater risk of gum disease and bone disease.
